Danville Utilities is continuing to deal with power outages in Pittsylvania County. Additional crews from High Point NC, Apex NC, and Rocky Mount NC have arrived and are assisting with the power restoration.
Additional trees and broken poles are being discovered are taking more time to remove and replace to restore service. All crews are out working and are focused on the largest outages first before working on the single outages.
Crews are currently working on Mountain Valley Road in Axton replacing six broken poles and in the Dry Fork-White Oak Mountain area removing down trees and replacing overhead lines. Several crews are in the Callands area also removing downed trees and replacing overhead lines. This effort is very time consuming and we appreciate your patience.
As of 1 pm Danville Utilities still has 1,249 customers without power.
Mecklenburg Electric still has nearly 4,7oo customers without power as of 1 pm. They say additional aid has arrived and there are 130 boots on the ground working on the outages.
