A Caswell County man has been sentenced after shooting a Caswell County Sheriff’s Deputy in 2022. 54-year-old Kevin Anthony DeSilva pled guilty on Monday to charges of two counts of attempted first degree murder, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, seven counts of assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm, and one count of discharging a weapon into an occupied motor vehicle.
DeSilva has been sentenced to between 30 and 37 years in prison for the charges. DeSilva shot Corporal A. Tyndall while deputies were attempting to serve a domestic violence protective order on him on August 10, 2022.
Following the shooting DeSilva barricaded himself inside of the residence for eight hours. After several hours of negotiations DeSilva surrendered without further incident.
An investigation after the shooting revealed that DeSilva was aware that officers were coming to serve him and had armed himself with 17 firearms and a bullet proof vest.
