Layoffs at the Goodyear plant in Danville will go into effect on Tuesday. Goodyear previously announced that 850 jobs would be cut at the Danville location as part of a rationalization plan.
The company announced in January that the Danville plant’s commercial tire production would be moved to other facilities in its footprint.
The Danville location will continue to make aviation tires and have mixing operations. Buyouts were offered to around 800 of the employees paying $3,000 per year of employment.
Goodyear says they expect that this move will boost the operating income in the Americas segment by about $15 million this year and then $65 million per year after.
