Averett University has put its equestrian center up for sale as the school continues to make cuts. The equestrian center is listed on multiple websites for $1.6 million.

The center is located in Providence, North Carolina and is on 130 acres. There are about 20 students currently in the equestrian program at Averett.

The program also has teams that compete in intercollegiate associations. At this time it is not known how the potential sale will impact the program.

The move comes after Averett announced staffing cuts in March that included 15 jobs being cut, as well as dropping six academic programs in late 2024, and over half of the schools staff getting pay cuts. The cuts started after finances were mishandled by a former employee.
