
One person was injured and five were displaced by an apartment building fire in Danville on Friday morning. The Danville Fire Department responded to the reported fire at 2:09 am at 121 Benefield St.
Upon arrival crews found a two story apartment building with heavy smoke showing from both floors and the basement of the building. It was quickly determined that everyone was outside and accounted for.
One male victim received burns. He was treated and transported by the Danville Life Saving Crew to Sovah Health Danville.
Crews searched all three floors of the building to confirm that everyone was outside. Additional crews pulled attack lines and entered the basement to extinguish the fire which was located in the basement.
The fire was brought under control in about ten minutes. No other injuries were reported, with five people displaced.
The American Red Cross is helping the occupants with shelter. Three engines one tower truck, one safety officer and a Battalion Chief were on scene for approximately two hours and fifteen minutes.
