The Pittsylvania County School Board has announced the promotion of Assistant Superintendent for Administration Steven Mayhew to the role of Superintendent. Mayhew succeed Dr. Mark Jones in the role starting on July 1.

Jones previously announced his retirement in January after serving as Superintendent for 18 years. Mayhem has worked for Pittsylvania County Schools for the past 24 years.

Mayhew has served as a teacher, Assistant Principal, a Principal at two different schools, and as the Assistant Superintendent for Administration.
