A man has been convicted for a homicide that occurred in Pittsylvania County in February 2023. A jury found 34-year-old Cordero Rucker guilty of first degree murder, shooting into an occupied building, and use of a firearm in the commission of murder.

Rucker was convicted for the shooting death of 28-year-old Jonathan Robertson after a Super Bowl Party on Falcon Ridge Drive in Gretna on February 12, 2023. The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at 10:30 pm.

When officers arrived Robertson had been taken in a car to Centra Medical Center in Gretna for gunshot wounds. Robertson later died from his injuries.

Rucker was arrested in Lynchburg over two months after the shooting. Rucker will have his sentencing hearing on June 23.
