A group of leaders from the City of Danville are heading to Denver this weekend for the All-American City Awards. Danville is among the finalists for the All-American City Awards.

The team will highlight four programs in the city to argue for why Danville should win the award, according to City Manager Ken Larking.

“The projects that we’ve been highlighting include Plan Danville, which is the comprehensive planning effort that has been underway and is near completion. Also the parks and recreation department’s Heart to Park initiative, which council heard some presentations on a few months ago, and then the Danville Police Department’s Grassroots Empowerment and Action Training Program and their various community engagement efforts, and then finally Danville Public Schools student representatives on the school board,” said Larking.

Danville previously won the All-American City Award in 2020. The awards will be announced on Sunday night on the National Civic League’s Facebook page at 8 pm.
