The South Boston Police Department has a new chief. Ronnie Edmonds has been named the new Police Chief in South Boston.

Edmonds was named the new Police Chief after serving as the interim chief since December. Edmonds has been a member of the South Boston Police Department since 1990.

Edmonds briefly retired in 2020 but returned on a part time basis in 2021. Edmonds has served in a number of roles for the department including patrol officer and sergeant of the patrol division during his career.
