True Grit Rodeo in Hurt will host the annual Ellie-Buck Memorial Bull Bash on June 21-22. True Grit Rodeo Owner, Daniel Lanier, started the Ellie-Buck Memorial Bull Bash in 2017 as a way to honor his father, Buck Lanier, who died in 2016 from cancer  and his mother in law, Ellie, who died the same year in a car crash.

“The two of them were two of our biggest fans and supporters, so we figured what better way to honor them than to keep doing what we’re doing and name one of our events after them,” said Lanier

True Grit Rodeo is well known in the Rodeo industry for putting on quality events according to Lanier.

“We are members of the Southern Extreme Bull Riding Association,” said Lanier, “we are 2023 Producer of the Year, which means according to our peers we put on the best events and we’re three years running with that. I was voted the Announcer of the Year, my clown is the Barrel Man of the Year, so it’s quality award winning entertainment, bull riding, barrel racing, mini bull riding and then our specialty act where our clown actually does trick roping with it on fire.”

The Ellie Buck Memorial Bull Bash will also have food and craft vendors. Tickets are $15 and will be sold at the gate at 3733 Grit Road. The gates will open at 5:30 pm and the show will start at 7:30 pm.
