The City of Danville has developed a Community Development Program – One Year Action Plan. On Tuesday night, Danville City Council authorized City Manager Ken Larking to submit the plan to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. 

Danville is expecting to receive community block grant funds this year that total nearly $1.2 million. Most of the money will be used  to build homes on vacant lots that are publicly owned. The city is expecting to complete 12 homes this fiscal year.

$100,000 will go towards the Lead-Safe Program, while $50,000 will be used to continue the development at Westmoreland Park.

The city will also use some of the funds to support House of Hope and it will support the Danville Department of Social Services Temporary Shelter Program as well. Additionally, support for the Neighbors Helping Neighbors utility assistance program will help 50 to 60 low-income households avoid a utility shut off.
