The Pittsylvania County board of supervisors approved a resolution of a solar battery storage facility to be installed in the Berry Hill Megapark adjacent to an AEP substation.  This 55 megawatt solar storage facility will collect and store energy that will be released during peak times to supplement the power grid.

Strata Solar will be building the facility after the joint city and County’s Regional Industrial Facility Authority approved their plans. The proposed tax revenue from the facility would be approximately $2.869 million dollars  along with would providing a more reliable supply of power to the megapark which is also a selling point for potential industries looking to set up shop.
