The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death that occurred on Tuesday. At 1:20 am, the Halifax County 911 center received a call of a possible shooting at a residence on Thompson Store Road.

When deputies arrived on scene they located a male subject laying on the ground with an apparent gun shot wound. Moments later, EMS personnel arrived and pronounced that the subject had succumbed to his injuries.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Sheriff Fred S. Clark stated that the residence where the incident occurred is vacant and the incident appears to be isolated. Anyone who may have any information regarding the incident to please contact the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office at 476-3334 or the Halifax County crime line at 476-8445.
