A woman in Rockingham County was killed on Thursday night when a tree fell on her home. At 7:26 pm, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Deputies, Williamsburg Fire Department, Reidsville and Eden Rescue Squads, Rockingham County EMS and other Rockingham County first responders were dispatched to 277 Clearwater Lane, Browns Summit, NC on a report that a tree had fallen on a mobile home.

Upon their arrival, first responders discovered 78-year-old Hilda Windsor Jones had been inside the home when the tree fell and was killed as a result. There was no one else in the house at the time, and it is believed that the tree fell due to weather from the remnants of Hurricane Debby.
