Five apartments were damaged during a fire in Danville on Sunday. The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 601 Bridge St at 11:30 am.
Units arrived to find a fire in an apartment in a 5 story apartment building. Crews were imediately made aware that the occupants of the fire apartment were outside and accounted for. Crews made entry into the fire apartment for extinguishment as other crews began evacuating occupants of adjoining apartments.
All occupants were evacuated from the building and the fire was extinguished. One apartment received fire damage with four additional apartments on the floor below receiving water damage. All five apartments were rendered uninhabitable.
The Red Cross is assisting them with relocation. The fire was determined to be accidental by the Danville Fire Departments Fire Marshalls office.Five engines, one ladder truck, a safety officer and two Chief officers were on scene for approximately three hours.No injuries were reported.
