A Ridgeway man was arrested on several charges following a chase on Friday. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Interdiction Unit attempted to conduct a stop on a white Chrysler 300 on Summit Road.

The vehicle refused to stop and a chase ensued with speeds reaching as high as 100 mph. The driver eventually lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail and concrete pillar on Carver Road.

The driver initially refused to get out of the car and attempted to drive away again before being apprehended. During a search of the vehicle deputies discovered cocaine, marijuana, money, and a cellular device for the distribution of narcotics.

As a result 47-year-old Derrick Hairston was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, driving under the influence of drugs, eluding law enforcement, obstruction, and following too closely. Hairston is being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center under no bond.
