Laurel Grove Fire and Rescue will benefit from Pittsylvania County’s tax-exempt financing status to purchase a tactical brush truck.

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution to allow Laurel Grove to participate in the County’s $10 million allocation for tax exempt bonds allowed under the Internal Revenue Service Code (IRS) §265B3 at its September 17, 2024 business meeting.

The tax-exempt bonds cover boards, agencies and commissions serving under at the Board’s authorization. Laurel Grove is an authorized volunteer fire department identified in the Pittsylvania County Code, which allows it to participate in tax-exempt financing.

Laurel Grove plans to purchase a 2024 BME Extreme Tactical Brush Truck for public use and not to exceed $215,000. Laurel Grove conducted a public hearing on September 5 on the potential use of tax-exempt financing of the vehicle and after legally publishing the notice as required by the IRS Code.
