A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in Danville on Tuesday night. The Danville Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Piney Forest Road at around 8 pm.

Once on scene, officers found 57-year-old Candace Cassidy suffering from injuries due to being struck by a Ford F-150. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses and the driver of the F-150, Cassidy was in the center turning lane and was struck while the vehicle was slowing down to make a turn.

The incident remains under investigation.
