On Tuesday night, the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors held a public for a proposed solar battery storage facility. Simpson Energy Center, LLC is proposing to build the East Point Solar Project on just under 200 acres, in the Staunton River District, off of Spring Road.
According to Simpson energy center the project would lower energy costs and peak demand reduction. Many residents from the area spoke against the project during the meeting citing possible fires from the facility as a big safety concern.
Simpson Energy Center asked to postpone the decision a month to address some of the concerns with a public meeting and the board of supervisors agreed. The meeting will be held on October 28th at Hurt Elementary School.
