November’s Superstar of the month is Dr. Paul Grekos. Letter submitted by Steve Daniel on behalf of Danville Dental Associates.
Not only was Paul known as a premiere dentist, but to many, he was known as “Coach”.
Coach Grekos had a passion for sports at an early age. It was passed on to him by his wonderful father, George Grekos, who was also a coach and educator in Pittsylvania Co. for many years. Paul has devoted countless hours and endless energy to many different levels of sports in the Chatham district.
Coach Grekos has volunteered his time coaching youth softball, youth baseball, JV football, and JV softball. He was also head coach of varsity football at Chatham High School for over six years, and varsity softball for fifteen years. But Paul was so much more than a coach to many of his athletes. In fact, he was a mentor to them, and they became a part of his family. Coach Grekos helped to recruit numerous players into college sports…even took them to different campuses for visits.
Dr. Grekos has given of himself, and his time, unselfishly to so many young men and women over the years. He has made a tremendous impact on the sports scene, but more importantly on the lives of his players. Coaching is a large part of who he is. Pittsylvania Co. sports has been so lucky to have had such a devoted and influential coach for more than twenty years. Also, we would like to add our congratulations to Dr. Grekos for his recent induction into the Pittsylvania Co. Sports Hall of Fame. Thank you for your consideration of Dr. Grekos.
