A woman was killed in Danville on Friday, and her grandson has been charged with second degree murder. According to the Danville Police Department, officers were dispatched to a home in the 1300 block of College Park Drive for a well-being check on 81-year-old Patsy Scearce.

Upon arrival, officers found Scearce deceased inside of the home with trauma to her upper body. Scearce lived in the home with her grandson 35-year-old Barry Pyron, Jr.

Prior to the well-being check call, at 11:46 am on Friday, a train traveling through the city reported striking a male who abruptly walked out into the path of the train in the area of West Main Street and Booth Road. The male was identified as Pyron. He sustained major injuries and was transported to a regional medical facility for treatment.

Pyron has been charged with second degree murder. Due to the ongoing investigation and for security reasons, the Danville Police Department is not releasing any additional information at this time.
