The Danville Utility Commission received a report yesterday from Utility Financial Solutions suggesting the city should increase utility prices starting in 2026. The study suggests that the city should increase electric bills by three percent in 2026, which would increase the average bill by about $4 a month.
The company’s findings also suggested that the city should increase gas bills by six percent in 2026 which would increase the average customer bill by $3 a month. An increase of seven percent was suggested for Wastewater, which would increase the average bill by about $2 a month. The suggestion for water was an increase of five percent, which would increase the average bill by $1.50 a month.
During the meeting it was noted by City Manager Ken Larking, that even after the changes Danville will still have cheaper utilities than the majority of nearby communities.
The utility commission will make a recommendation on the proposed changes at its January meeting.
