One person was killed during a fire in Danville on Thursday. The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 3500 block of Westover Dr. on Thursday afternoon.
Fire crews were on scene in less than four minutes from the time of dispatch. They encountered heavy fire conditions coming from the home. Firefighters initiated a quick attack of the fire and searched the home.
The victim was quickly found and removed where resuscitation efforts began. Firefighters assisted EMS crews with removing the patient from the scene to a waiting ambulance where they were transported to SOVAH health in Danville.
Despite the efforts of fire, EMS and the hospital staff the patient did not survive their injuries. 15 firefighters remained on scene for a little over 2 hours to fully extinguish the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation with the Danville Fire Marshal’s office and the Danville Police Department.
