A Henry County man has been charged after an investigation into a drug trafficking operation in Franklin County. On August 30, 2024, members of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations and Patrol Divisions conducted a surveillance operation related to reported drug trafficking activities at the Lake Inn in the Westlake area.
During the investigation, deputies received information that Bobby Nathaniel Courtney, 27, of Henry County, was wanted on outstanding criminal charges and was possibly located at the Lake Inn. Deputies observed Courtney running into a room at the location and exiting shortly thereafter. He was taken into custody on his outstanding warrants.
Further investigation led to the execution of a search warrant for the room where Mr. Courtney had been staying. The search resulted in the seizure of the following items:
• Approximately 269 grams of heroin/fentanyl
• Approximately 978 grams of methamphetamine
• A firearm with ammunition
• Drug packaging supplies
• U.S. currency
Subsequent forensic analysis of the seized substances confirmed their composition, and additional warrants were issued for Courtney on January 8. He now faces the following charges:
• Three felony counts of Sell, Distribute, etc. of Schedule I/II Drug (3rd or subsequent offense)
• One felony count of Sell Schedule I/II Drug while Possessing a Firearm
• One felony count of Distribution of More Than 200 Grams of Methamphetamine Mix
• One felony count of Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Distribute More Than 100 Grams of Heroin Mix
• One felony count of Weapon Possession by a Non-Violent Felon
• One misdemeanor count of Possession of Schedule III Drugs
Courtney was served with these charges on January 8, and remains in custody at the Henry County Adult Detention Center on additional charges.
