The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Winter Storm Warning across the southside starting on Friday. The warning will be in effect from 1 pm on Friday to 7 am on Saturday.
Pittsylvania, Henry, Halifax, Rockingham, and Caswell counties are all included in the warning along with the cities of Danville, Martinsville, South Boston, Eden, Reidsville, and Yanceyville.
Moderate snow is expected with total snow accumulations between three and five inches, locally higher amounts could be possible.
Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute.
