A preliminary report shows that Danville received 2.5 inches of snow, ending around 3 a.m.
The Public Works Department reports that major thoroughfares streets are in good condition, with icy areas. Snowplow crews are making a final pass over these streets, and then will move to streets that connect to primary routes and bus routes.
Residential streets are snow covered. Public Works supervisors expect it will be this afternoon before they begin plowing in residential neighborhoods. Generally, it takes 24 hours to plow all residential streets. Crews are working 12-hour, round-the-clock shifts.
Residents and visitors are advised to avoid unnecessary travel this morning.
All Danville Transit services have been suspended until 11 a.m. due to hazardous street conditions.
