A Rockingham County man that had been missing for a week was found deceased on Monday. According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, 79-year-old Morris Fain was found deceased outside his vehicle inside a wooded area off Panther Rd. near Guerrant Springs Rd. in Ruffin.

Fain was reported missing on January 13 after he was driving to 312 Acme Street in Reidsville, but he never arrived at that location. After releasing the initial report that Fain had been reported missing, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office received information that he was seen in Danville on Monday evening at the Auto Zone where he stopped and asked for directions back to Reidsville, as he had become lost.

Later, Fain stopped at the Liberty Gas Station on Franklin Turnpike in Danville and again asked for directions to Reidsville. He was escorted by a motorist from the gas station to US 29 Bypass where he exited to the southbound lane.

Fain was then possibly seen on Friday between 10-11 am on Friday at the Sheetz in Ridgeway. At this time, foul play is not suspected in Fain’s death.
