A dog was killed and two people were displaced by a fire in Danville on Tuesday. According to the Danville Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a reported house fire at 640 Edmonds Street at 2:37 pm.

Crew arrived on scene at 2:40 pm and reported seeing  smoke and fire from the basement. The first crew on scene made entry into the house from the rear and extinguished the fire, rapidly.

A search of the home was performed and crews found a dog deceased in the basement. The fire department remained on scene until the scene was secure and the fire was out.  The Danville Fire Marshal’s office investigated and found the cause of the fire was faulty electrical.

Crews remained on scene for 2 hours and 16 minutes. The Danville Fire Department was assisted by the Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police Department, and Danville Utilities with the call.
