RoCo Is Home, LLC has announced the creation of its nonprofit organization, the ‘RoCo Is Home Foundation’.  The mission of RoCo Is Home Foundation is to enhance the quality of life in Rockingham County by fostering economic growth through education, small business support, and community engagement.

The foundation will strive to create stronger economic growth by partnering with new small business creators, discovering needs, and finding ways to remedy those challenges.  Closing those gaps will help lead to more economic growth for the community.

The foundation will also create scholarships for students at Rockingham Community College specifically in the program areas of public services, public safety, industrial technologies, and business technologies.  There is great need in our community for people in these sectors.  By helping offset some of the costs of the education and training, the hope is to see more people being able to recognize their desire to learn a new trade or expand their skill sets.  A strong workforce is an integral part of a strong, healthy community.

RoCo Is Home, LLC and now RoCo Is Home Foundation are run by a trio of ladies who are no strangers to Rockingham County:  Ingrid McCraw, Leslie Wyatt, and Sandra Meadows.  Recently they shouldered the responsibility of the 2024 Olde Leaksville Nighttime Parade and a successfully executed the 2025 Chili Cookoff in Uptown Eden.  The latter event supported twelve local charities in and around Rockingham County, filled a lot of empty stomachs with great chili and brought customers to the Uptown area businesses.

“Events like the Chili Cookoff are a great example of what happens when our community works together.  We love creating events that are multifaceted:  community events that bring people together, support local charities and the local economy.  It’s a triple win!” says Ingrid McCraw, the new foundation’s President.  “Events are one part of our mission.  What I am most excited about is our desire to offer scholarships to local students for trade certificates and diplomas.  Educating the local workforce is so important.  We really want to focus on the trades; there is a huge need right now for HVAC, plumbers, electricians, EMS, police, fire, etc.  We want to help ease financial burdens for those wanting to enter those trades.”  Sandra Meadows, Foundation Vice President, says “I helped start the RoCo is Home Foundation to make a real difference for our small businesses and community. I want to ensure that our children grow up in a place they’re proud to call home, where opportunity and tradition thrive together.”

The Foundation will be celebrating its launch with a large event on Saturday, August 23rd themed as The Second Chance Prom at The Farm House.  Details are still being finalized, but this event should be a great night of fun, food, dancing, and supporting the efforts of the Foundation to further education and economic growth.  Other events on their schedule include a Kid’s Entrepreneurial Event at Hive-Eden on Saturday, April 26th, and a Mother’s Day Tea being held on May 17th at The Ridge in Wentworth.

The RoCo Is Home Foundation invites all individuals, businesses, and organizations interested in supporting these efforts to contact them to learn more about what they are doing and how you may be able to help.
