DANVILLE, VA — The Amtrak Crescent was delayed for about 30 minutes after a car got stuck on the tracks in Danville late Sunday night.
The small, four-door sedan became stuck on the train tracks between Lynn and Monument Streets about 11 p.m. The vehicle traveled about 150 feet down the railroad grade before coming to a halt. The driver told Danville Police that she was following GPS instructions at the time.
Norfolk Southern stopped all trains, including the southbound Amtrak Crescent, for about 30 minutes. Rail traffic was allowed to resume at a reduced speed while the car was being moved.
The vehicle was removed from the tracks by 12:45 a.m.
