DANVILLE, Va. – Fire gutted a Danville apartment complex Thursday night.

Danville firefighters responded to 352 Seminole Trail just before 7:30 pm and found smoke coming from the roof of the two-story apartment building. Crews also found fire and smoke in several of the units. All of the occupants were outside the apartment building and there were no injuries.

Crews quickly put out the fire but the building was condemned. The occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Second and third alarms were activated due to the amount of fire and size of the apartment building.

The fire marshal has determined that the fire was the result of a lightning strike. (Photo courtesy River City TV)
