GRETNA, Va. – A man driving a motorcycle in Gretna was killed when he ran the bike into the rear of a tractor-trailer.
According to Virginia State Police, the crash happened Tuesday on Route 40, two-tenths of a mile south of Route 876.
57-year-old Keith Randolph Craighead of Penhook, Va. was traveling west along Route 40 when he crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer that had stopped for construction. State Police say the zone was clearly marked and had flaggers for the lane closure.
Craighead was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he died.
The tractor-trailer driver wasn’t injured.
