PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – A home in the Long Island community of Pittsylvania County was destroyed in an early morning fire.

Gretna Fire and EMS units were dispatched to the home in the 13-hundred block of Moons Road about one a.m. Flames were visible when the first units arrived and the fire marshal says the house was a total loss and burned to the ground.

Multiple units responded to the fire but crews have since cleared the scene.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation.

Here in Danville, crews made quick work of a fire in the basement of a home on Dover Place.

The call went out shortly after midnight.
