LYNCHBURG, Va. – A Lynchburg teacher has been found not-guilty of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
WSET-13 reports that the judge found there was reasonable doubt in the case against 52-year-old Kelly Bryant and found her not-guilty of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
Both Kelly and her accuser testified during Monday’s trial.
Her accuser, who is now 25, said the sexual relationship was consensual. Bryant, who is a teacher and volleyball coach at Heritage High School, denied that there was any relationship with the student. Bryant admitted she and the volleyball player were close friends, but denied that theirs was a romantic relationship.
Her accuser claimed the relationship started in 2009 when she was a freshman at the school.
