DANVILLE, Va. – Judge James Reynolds followed the jury’s recommendation, sentencing a Danville man to 88 years in prison for a Christmas murder at a Windsor Heights party. The Danville Register and Bee reports that the sentence was handed down Monday in Danville Circuit Court.
34-year-old Antwain Maurice Jones of Chesapeake was convicted in July of fatally shooting 31-year-old David Bernard Stewart of Danville during the early morning hours of Dec. 23 at 417 Downing Drive.
Witnesses testified that the murder followed an argument at a sweater party. They told the jury that Jones shot Stewart twice in the head and also shot him in the chest and arm.
Jones did not testify during the trial.
