KEELING, Va. – Tampa Bay Rays minor leaguer Blake Bivens says his “heart was turned to ash” when his wife, 1-year-old son and mother-in-law were slain this week.

The 24-year-old wrote on Instagram that his “life as I knew it is destroyed” and “I shake and tremble at the thought of our future without them.”

“The pain my family and I feel is unbearable and cannot be put into words,” Bivens wrote in an Instagram post.

“Emily, my sweetheart, you are the best wife and mother this world has ever seen,” Bivens wrote. “My sweet little boy, dada loves you so much! I can’t breath without you here.”

Bivens is a pitcher for the Montgomery Biscuits.

Bivens’ 18-year-old brother-in-law is facing first-degree murder charges. Court documents did not reveal a motive.

Meanwhile, funeral arrangements have been set for the three victims. 62-year-old Joan Bernard, her 25-year-old daughter Emily Bernard Bivens and 14-month-old Cullen Bivens services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Central Boulevard Church of God in Danville.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
