WASHINGTON – The Pentagon has released the entire list of $3.6 billion in military construction projects that will be placed on hold to help fund a border wall with Mexico, and Virginia’s junior senator is none too happy.

Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine slammed the move, saying Virginia alone will lose millions of dollars in planned construction projects. He called the wall “a foolish waste of money” that will cost Virginia $77 million.

The Pentagon informed Kaine and Sen. Mark Warner Wednesday that the administration plans to move money from four military construction projects in Virginia, including a Cyber Operations Facility at Joint Base Langley-Eustis that will lose $10 million; a Navy Ships Maintenance Facility in Portsmouth that will lose $26.1 million; a project to replace a hazardous materials warehouse in Norfolk that will lose $18.5 million; and another project to replace a hazardous materials warehouse in Portsmouth that will lose $22.5 million.

Sen. Kaine vowed to fight the transfer, saying “we’re gonna have a vote in the Senate to hopefully repudiate the president’s raid on the military budget.”
