DANVILLE, Va. – A cold front east of the Blue Ridge Mountains is heading to Southside and temperatures will plummet Tuesday afternoon.
National Weather Service meteorologist Will Perry says Danville can expect falling temperatures, gusting winds and maybe even a light dusting of snow from this system. No accumulation is expected locally, but Perry says Martinsville, Chatham, Gretna, Smith Mountain Lake and Lynchburg could get a half-inch of snow, mainly on grassy areas.
The temperatures will fall into the 30s by afternoon and dip to the lower 20s overnight.
Perry says the colder temperatures will also be accompanied by wind gusts of 30-35 mph in the Danville area.
