RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia could soon be a step closer to approving casinos.
The Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission, or J-LARC, will present its findings on gaming in the Commonwealth at a 1 p.m. meeting in Richmond Monday.
Back in January, The General Assembly passed a bill that would bring five casinos to Virginia. The casinos would be in Danville, Bristol, Portsmouth and Richmond. But to make it official, lawmakers need a formal review by J-LARC and approval from the General Assembly when state lawmakers convene in January.
If the legislature approves the casinos, voters in Danville would still have to vote on whether to approve construction of the gaming house.
