DANVILLE, Va. – Danville Police are investigating a homicide that claimed the life of a 19-year-old.

Police were called to 623 Edmunds Street about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a report that a man had been shot in the chest.

They responded to the Cardinal Village Apartments and found Xavier N. Carson suffering from a gunshot wound. He later died as a result of the injury.

His body will be taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Roanoke for an autopsy.

Police are continuing their investigation.
