DANVILLE, Va. – Fire gutted a home in the 200 block of Scales Street Sunday morning.

The call came in at around 10:36 am for a structure fire at 209 Scales Street. Smoke was billowing from all four sides of the frame house when the first units arrived on scene.

No one was home at the time and there were no injuries. The three residents are being assisted by the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control quickly but the living room and hallway of the house were charred and extensive smoke and heat damage was done to the entire house.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
