HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Search warrants show that a Bassett woman who was murdered earlier this week identified the shooter before she died.

34-year-old Krystal Anne McReynolds was taken to Sovah Health in Martinsville and transferred to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she later died. She’d been shot in the face with the bullet lodging in her neck.

According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, McReynolds was four to five months pregnant but lost the unborn child.

35-year-old Thomas Christopher McDowell of Fieldale was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and firearms counts. McDowell is a convicted felon.

The house where McReynolds was shot had been the site of a previous homicide and neighbors say the home is known for drug activity.
