HENRY COUNTY, Va. – The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery that left a man with a gunshot wound.

Authorities received a call Tuesday afternoon about a shooting on Ridgemont Circle. When deputies arrived, they found 30-year-old Jeffrie Bernard Hairston Jr. with a gunshot wound to his backside.

Deputies say that three people came to his home and Hairston knew one of them. 25-year-old Courtney Leigh Helms is wanted for felony attempted robbery.

The trio entered Hairston’s home through an open front door, drew a rifle and demanded money. The man who shot Hairston and the other male were both were wearing dark colored hooded shirts and masks.
