DANVILLE, Va. – Crews kept a fire at 201 Parkland Dr. from spreading beyond the kitchen.

Danville firefighters were called to the home around 1 pm Thursday and found smoke showing from the outside. They were met in the front yard by the occupants who advised that everyone was outside and accounted for.

Crews located a fire on the kitchen stove, extending to some cabinets. Firefighters doused the flames and checked for extension.

The house received moderate fire damage to the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the home.

The fire started in some unattended cooking.

Two people were displaced and are staying with relatives.

The Danville Fire Department responded three engines and a ladder truck. Units were on scene for about an hour.

No injuries were reported.
