DANVILLE, Va. – Danville firefighters were called to two house fires Thursday.
After dousing a kitchen fire on Parkland Drive Thursday afternoon, they received a second call of a working fire at 811 Tamworth Dr. at around 6 pm. Crews found heavy smoke showing from the outside of the house. They were met in the front yard by the occupant, who was uninjured.
The fire was located on the first floor and extended into the attic. It took about 30 minutes to knock down the flames. Heavy fire and smoke damage was reported throughout the house.
As with the earlier fire on Parkland, the fire marshal determined that the fire on Tamworth started in some unattended cooking. One person was forced out of the home and is staying with friends.
Units were on scene for about two hours and fifteen minutes.
