DANVILLE, Va. – Danville Police have arrested a 17-year-old for first-degree murder and firearms charges for the 2016 shooting death of 41-year-old Jonathan McDonald Hamlett.
Police arrested the teenager without incident on Tuesday afternoon at a house in Danville. The juvenile, who lives in Danville, is being held at the W.W. Moore, Jr. Juvenile Detention Home awaiting trial.
Detectives worked closely with the commonwealth attorney’s office to ring charges in this case.
Hamlett was shot on Chatelaine Ave. in Danville on Oct. 5, 2016 and died the following day. He was found lying in the middle of Chatelaine near Albert Street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
