PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – Pittsylvania County will continue with virtual classrooms, despite a recommendation from the superintendent of schools.
The school board held a special meeting to discuss the reopening plan and voted 6-1 against the superintendent’s recommendation to bring PreK-3rd graders back on September 14th, and 4th-12th graders back on the 21st.
School board members cited the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Pittsylvania County and felt it wasn’t safe for students to return to the classroom at this time. The board said it will continue with remote learning until those numbers begin to fall.
