PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – Two people have died in separate accidents in Pittsylvania County.

The most recent happened just before 4 a.m. Thursday on Route 746, a little less than half a mile north of Route 1555.

Virginia State Police say a 1996 Toyota Tacoma was traveling north on Route 746, when the vehicle crossed the center line, overcorrected, then overturned, ejecting the driver.

The driver, 61-year-old Danny Russell Hundley of Danville, was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.

State police say a pedestrian who was struck in an accident that happened in September has died.

Valaurie Michelle Goodman, 26, of Gladys died Wednesday from injuries received in a September 5 accident.

The crash occurred shortly after midnight on Route 29, just north of Galveston Road in Pittsylvania County.

A 2001 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on Route 29, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway. State police say Goodman was crossing the road and was hit in the right lane of travel.

The driver of the car, 19-year-old Jaden T. Gilbert of Alta Vista was not injured and was not charged in the accident.

A 42-year-old Danville woman, Tiffany Holliness, has been charged with driving under the influence following a Monday morning wreck in Halifax County.

State Police say Holliness was driving a Toyota Camry on Rt. 58, one mile west of Route 751, when she ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. She overcorrected and her car ran off the right side of the highway.

The driver of a Hyundai Tiburon, 57-year-old John K. Cobbs of Danville, attempted to avoid Holliness’ wrecked vehicle, ran off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected and overturned.

Neither driver was injured but both cars were totaled.
