DANVILLE, Va. – The Police Department is urging all residents to stay home and avoid travel if possible due to multiple trees down across the city as well as widespread power outages. Traffic signals in large portions of the city are not working.
A tree has fallen over a high voltage line, disrupting our power feed from AEP. Large portions of the city and county are without power. Danville Utilities crews are working to restore service as quickly as possible.
At 10 a.m., an estimated 3,000 customers were without power from fallen trees, broken poles, and downed power lines. Stay away from downed lines.
Danville Utilities is receiving assistance from contract crews and other cities in which it has mutual aid agreements.
