HURT, Va. – The Pittsylvania County fire marshal is investigating the cause of a fatal mobile home fire in the northern end of the county.
The fire was reported shortly after 5:30 Wednesday morning at 16360 Rockford School Road in the Hurt community.
It appears the fire started in the living room of the trailer and spread throughout the mobile home. One man died in the blaze. The victim has not been identified and investigators say no one else was home at the time of the fire
The cause is undetermined but a kerosene heater may have been to blame.
In addition to Hurt, firefighters from Gretna, Climax, Renan and Chatham responded to the call, along with EMS personnel.
